On the first day we went to a sugar plantation were the workers live in a small village. The plantation owners "hire" these people to work for them provide the least amount of shelter as possible and pay them next to nothing, they are basically slaves. Thing that got me the most was that the plantation workers were not there by choice, the owners of the fields keep the cost of living up enough that the meager wages given are just barely enough to keep their workers alive. One person controls the fate and lively hood of so many and instead of helping them they enslave them. These are the people we came to minister to in the Philippines. Pastor Antonio Ner pastors Bethesda Baptist Church, along with his wife and 3 children. His congregation run a program to the plantation villages to help provide there children with a good meal on Saturdays. This ministry not only feeds the physical needs of the people but also the Spiritual, while the children are being feed one of the young men from the church presents the Gospel. Through this ministry as well as having the majors approval we were able to go into the city and surrounding areas of Talisay. The children are so beautiful, they love singing songs and playing with our puppets.
